José Duarte Pacheco

José Duarte Pacheco, Guimarães (2002) is currently studying in the final year of the Fine Arts degree at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto. The artist's work arises from the need of storytelling and world building. exploring the intersection between the traditional customs of a Portuguese family, and the great potencial of queer existence. The work, being often autobiographical, develops under the marks left by various influences including the precariousness of country life, the sumptuousness of religious ritual, the immense History of art and the industrial footprint left by textile production in his hometown, which contrast with the orgasmic experience of pop/internet culture and it’s "Shakespearean" theatrics.
